Have you ever pondered the number nine,
Perhaps while sitting stuck in time?
Well here we are still holding tight,
While a “tiny” opening up is finally in sight.
Stay protected, and stick to the plan,
Wear your face mask and wash your hands.
Be mindful of others and of yourself too,
We still need to be cautious in the things that we do.
Watching, waiting, wondering, and pondering when,
Will the fall be when we finally get to reopen school again?
How does one plan when so it seems, there’s just no end in sight?
Well here in Goochland we pull together to get the job done right!
So, once again our leaders did the thing that they do best,
Finding new solutions to share, then reaching out to all of the rest.
Communicating clearly while leading carefully, every step of the way,
Staying completely open to what teachers and staff members have to say.
Dr. Geyer’s exceptional email, gave examples to see,
Educational possibilities covering whatever may be.
If we do start on time that is great, that is grand,
But if not, we’ll be ready – YES, we will have a plan!
Our educational coaches jumped right into high gear,
Creating essential lessons online making frameworks crystal clear.
They gathered all the teachers with an outline in hand,
And challenged every grade level to come up with a plan.
The teachers and the coaches, and the specialists too,
All pitched in to figure out the very best things to do.
Building classrooms virtually, setting just the right pace,
Providing helpful skills that our teaching parents can embrace.
When our leaders lead – they empower teachers here,
What do empowered teachers do? They find new ways to steer.
Digging deep to find new ways to get our students through,
Goochland we will do this and it’s all because of you!
We’ve never waded through these waters, during any other time,
And no one can predict what new encounters we may find,
But one thing is for certain let me make this crystal clear,
I’m thankful everyday for the Goochland family we have here.
We miss our students, we miss our colleagues, we miss our schools it’s true,
But folks it’s been an honor sharing a pandemic with all of you!
The care, the love, the strength, the skills, through every step each day,
I’m proud of how we all pull together and live The Goochland Way!
Stay strong and stay safe!
