On Monday, Goochland County Public Schools will facilitate on-site summer school for selected students. In preparation for our return to school, we are required to submit a health plan outlining the strategies we are using to mitigate the public health risk of COVID-19. The Phase II Health Plan, which can be viewed here, was developed in collaboration with district and school-based administrators, school health personnel, the Virginia Department of Health, and our School Health Advisory Board. Goochland County Public Schools remain committed to supporting the academic progress of all students while also providing a safe and healthy learning environment for students, teachers, and staff.
In addition to providing this health plan, this communication is intended to provide resources to our families to educate on the signs and symptoms of COVID-19 prior to any school activities.
Please visit https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-ncov/symptoms-testing/symptoms.html to see the most recent guidance from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention about COVID-19 symptoms.
We have also partnered with our division’s insurance provider to provide several educational videos that address signs and symptoms of COVID-19, appropriate disinfecting and cleaning procedures, managing stress and anxiety, and the use of face coverings. Please visit these videos using the links below. Each video lasts between 6 and 9 minutes.
We expect families to monitor their child’s health and keep children at home if children show COVID-19 symptoms, or if someone in their household is under quarantine or in isolation for COVID-19. During Phase II, parents or guardians are required to complete health assessments using this GCPS google form prior to sending children to school.
We will update our health plan and guidance as the phases are implemented in our return to school and communicate with our families. Again, please take the time to review our health plan and the resources provided to make our summer and our return to school safe and healthy for all.
