Families who rely on schools for healthy meals will continue to have food services this summer through the Goochland County Public Schools Sunshine Food Bus and at Goochland Middle School in June.
The Sunshine Food Bus travels to three locations in Goochland County, serving free meals to all children ages 18 and under. Participating children also receive a book with every meal, and daily drawings will be held at each location.
Monday through Thursday, June 13 through July 28, the Sunshine Food Bus will stop at the following locations at the following times:
· St. Mark Baptist Church, 4596 Factory Mill Rd., Maidens, Va. 23102: 11 – 11:25 a.m.
· Shady Grove Baptist Church, 3384 Oakland Church, Gum Spring, Va. 23065: 11:40 a.m. – 12:05 p.m.
· Mt. Olive Baptist Church, 1630 Manakin Rd., Manakin-Sabot, Va. 23103: 12:30 – 12:55 p.m.
There will be no meal service June 20 or July 4. Adult meals may be purchased at a discounted price.
Breakfast and lunch will also be available at the Goochland Secondary Complex (Middle School Cafeteria June 13-17 and June 21-24. All children 18 and under can eat free of charge at the following times for each week:
· June 13 – 17: Breakfast 8 a.m., Lunch 10:30 and 11:30 a.m.
· June 21 – 24: Breakfast 8 a.m., Lunch 10:30 and 11:35 a.m. (No meal service on June 20.)
To find the closest meal sites in each area, parents and caregivers can text “FOOD” (or “COMIDA”) to 304-304. Using this resource will provide options offered by GCPS and other organizations and agencies.
